Ribbon Cutting Celebrates Heritage Estates: New Homeownership Community Brings 33 Homes to Southwest Fresno

Fresno, CA – Fresno Housing, alongside city, county, and state partners, celebrated the official ribbon cutting for Heritage Estates, a transformative new homeownership community in Southwest Fresno that will provide 33 single-family homes for first-time buyers. The event, held on November 12, 2025, at Heritage Estates Community Park, drew dozens of community members, local leaders, and housing partners to mark the milestone.

Heritage Estates represents a significant step forward in expanding access to homeownership for working families earning between 50% and 80% of the area median income (AMI). Through multiple layers of down payment and mortgage assistance, buyers are able to purchase new, energy-efficient homes that would otherwise be out of reach.

“This community represents more than new homes—it represents opportunity, stability, and hope,” said Tyrone Roderick Williams, CEO of Fresno Housing. “Heritage Estates gives families who have worked hard but have been priced out of the housing market a real chance to achieve homeownership. Through layered assistance and long-term affordability protections, we’re helping build generational wealth and stronger neighborhoods.”

The event featured remarks from Mayor Jerry Dyer, Assemblymember Dr. Joaquin Arambula, Fresno County Supervisor Brian Pacheco, Fresno City Council Vice President Miguel Arias, Southwest Fresno Development Corporation Executive Director Allysunn Walker, and Fresno Housing City Board Chair Sharon Williams. The program concluded with the presentation of a ceremonial key to new homeowner Gladys Lara, marking the beginning of a new chapter for families who will soon move into Heritage Estates.

Speakers shared a unified message about what Heritage Estates represents: a tangible investment in Southwest Fresno. Collectively, they reflected on the neighborhood’s long history of underinvestment and emphasized that projects like this demonstrate real, lasting progress toward equitable growth and opportunity for the community.

Located near East Florence Avenue and South Walnut Avenue, Heritage Estates fulfills a key goal of the Southwest Fresno Specific Plan, to transform underused land into vibrant, sustainable neighborhoods that serve local families. The development includes a new community park, solar in every home, and access to post-purchase counseling through the Southwest Fresno Development Corporation.

Heritage Estates builds on Fresno Housing’s mission to create and sustain vibrant communities throughout Fresno County. The homes are part of a broader strategy to expand affordable homeownership, improve neighborhood stability, and close the economic wealth gap for local families.
