Fresno Housing Authority staff determines the amount of rent paid by residents based on 30% of adjusted gross annual income. Adjusted income means a family’s annual income minus a number of mandatory deductions.

The mandatory deductions include amounts for:
- Status as an elderly or disabled family
- Unreimbursed child care expenses
- Unreimbursed medical expenses (elderly/disabled families only)
- Unreimbursed assistance expenses
