Employee Benefits and Rewards
Fresno Housing Authority offers generous paid vacation, sick, and holidays; comprehensive group medical, dental, and vision coverage; life insurance; flexible spending account; CalPERS defined benefit plan; and CalPERS 457 tax deferred retirement savings plan. Note that some benefits are only available to employees working 30 or more hours per week.
9/80 Work Week
Fresno Housing Authority follows a 9/80 work week with office closures every/other Friday.
Employees are eligible to accrue up to 90 hours of paid vacation during the first four years of continuous service; up to 130 hours thereafter. Eligible part-time regular employees accrue paid vacation leave on a pro-rata basis.
Paid Sick Leave
Employees are eligible to accrue up to 96 hours of paid sick leave per year. Eligible part-time regular employees accrue sick leave on a pro rata basis.
Fresno Housing Authority observes the following 12.5 paid holidays:

Group Health Insurance
Regular full-time and part-time employees may be eligible for group medical coverage. Employees may choose from four insurance plans that include three HMO’s (Health Management Organization) and one PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) with excellent coverage for eligible employees, legal spouse, registered domestic partner, and/or dependents.

CalPERS Defined Benefit Plan (mandatory)
The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) is a defined benefit retirement plan for State employees, classified school employees, and employees of local public agencies that contract with CalPERS for retirement plan administration. CalPERS provides lifetime benefits based on members’ years of service, age, and final compensation. In contrast to retirement plans, defined contribution plans are determined by contributions (employee and employer).
The Employee Paid Member Contribution is 6.25% as determined by CalPERS of the employee’s salary. In addition, the Agency contributes the statutorily required employer contribution (Employer Paid Member Contribution) to the CalPERS system.
457 Tax Deferred Retirement Plan (optional)
Employees also have the option to contribute to a supplemental retirement plan (457 Tax Deferred Retirement) beginning on their hire date. For this plan, the Agency will match contributions dollar for dollar up to $900 per year for participating employees. To help with investment decisions, employees can access Voya Institutional Plan Services to receive personalized investment advice.
Parking at all sites, including downtown Fresno, are provided by the Agency at no cost to employees.

- Annual Wellness Fair – annual Fresno Housing Authority sponsored event that includes dozens of vendors provides valuable information on products and services available to promote healthy living.
- Employee Assistance Program – access to free, confidential counseling and referral services designed to help employees and their household members cope with work, family, financial or legal problems.
